Decay Anthology Sermon

Tentatively titled Decay: Decline | Nostalgia | Resurrection the proposed anthology will deal with various expressions of decay (mental, physical, personal, sociological, etc, etc). The book is tentatively structured as a progression from the rotten, dirty and unlikable elements of decay toward the cleaner elements and the possibilities that arise from building upon the broken and the old.

Call it "urban fiction" if you wish or must; a continuation of the ideas and themes of Concrete Forest. Unlike CF, Decay is driven by theme, not geography. It will also incorporate, by necessity of the subject matter, a large visual component.

For those interested, the next steps are:

a) Tell me how you might wish to contribute to Decay. A synopsis (no more than 300 words) or a simple note of intent will suffice.

b) Tell me you have the time, inclination and wherewithal to produce something meaningful within the next six months.

c) Tell me a little about yourself. A bio and/or a CV telling me where you've been published, what you like to write about, where you live, interests, etc, etc. No longer than 150-200 words.

I will assess the state of the Decay anthology in May of 2002. If I'm inundated with interested folks, I will approach publishers. If not, well, I won't. And if you have questions or suggestions, by all means, bring it on.

cheers
Ryan Bigge
